Paul von Aussem (* around 1616 ; † November 24, 1679 ) was auxiliary bishop and vicar general of the archbishop of Cologne .

Coming from an old Cologne family, he studied theology at the old University of Cologne from 1632 , where he also received his Lic. Theol. PhD. Since 1636 professor at the Cologne Artistic Faculty at the Gymnasium Montanum , in 1647 he became the dean of St. Andreas and in 1654, as cathedral capitular, he became the owner of a university charter at Cologne Cathedral . Since 1656 canon at the Collegiate Church of St. Kunibert in Cologne , since 1661 he worked on the synodal statutes of the Archdiocese of Cologne and was appointed vicar general by Archbishop Maximilian Heinrich of Bavaria in the summer of 1662 . In 1675 he was rector of Cologne University . On October 19, 1676 he was appointed titular bishop of Almira and auxiliary bishop in Cologne. Consecrated on January 10, 1677 by the Cologne Nuncio Opizio Pallavicini , he undertook numerous trips through the parishes of the Archdiocese of Cologne in the following years and was buried after his death in the Cologne collegiate church of St. Kunibert, where he had been the collegiate dean.
