Hilger de Burgis

Hilger de Burgis OCarm († November 1, 1452 in Liège ) was auxiliary bishop in Cologne and Liège .

Life

He entered the Carmelite order, where he made his profession , and was prior in Mainz in 1430 , prior in Strasbourg in 1434 and prior in Cologne in 1437. Hilger de Burgis obtained his doctorate in theology in Cologne in 1442 and was a professor at Cologne University from 1422 to 1425 and from 1446 to 1446 . Since 1440 penitentiary and spiritual advisor to the Archbishop of Cologne Dietrich II von Moers , who appointed him auxiliary bishop for the Archbishopric of Cologne.

In 1436 or 1437 Hilger de Burgis was appointed titular bishop of Budua and received episcopal ordination in Cologne . Later he moved as auxiliary bishop to the diocese of Liège , where he also died.

He was the author of handwritten commentaries on various Pauline letters .
