Dietrich Wichwael

Dietrich Wichwael (* in Kaster ; † 1519 ) was auxiliary bishop in Cologne .

Wichwael, who belongs to the Augustinian order , taught theology as a professor at the University of Cologne from 1495 . From 1495 he was prior of the Augustinian monastery in Cologne and was appointed titular bishop of Cyrene and auxiliary bishop in the archbishopric of Cologne on August 2, 1504 . Acting as such since 1505, he died before March 3, 1519 and was buried in the Augustinian Church in Bedburg . Wichwael, who was considered a humanist, was a friend of Erasmus von Rotterdam and Agrippa von Nettesheim .
