Heinrich von Rübenach belonged to the medal in the Dominican and studied in 1450 Köln theology, in which he also to the doctor PhD was. From 1455 to 1457 Provincial of the German Province of the Dominicans, from 1455 to 1486 he was professor at the theological faculty of the medieval University of Cologne , of which he also became dean in 1484. The respected preacher was appointed titular bishop of Venecomp ( Armenia ) on July 9, 1457 and served as auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Cologne under the archbishops Dietrich II von Moers and Ruprecht von der Pfalz since 1469 . In the disputes between Archbishop Ruprecht and the monastery administrator and later Archbishop Hermann IV of Hesse , he was arrested and physically abused by the latter's people. During Archbishop Ruprecht's captivity, from 1478 to 1480, Heinrich von Rübenach took over the spiritual administration of the archbishopric. When Hermann von Hessen became archbishop on August 11, 1480, he resigned his office as auxiliary bishop in Cologne and left the diocese . The Archbishop of Mainz appointed him on October 8, 1486 auxiliary bishop in partibus Rheni of his diocese.

Heinrich von Rübenach last lived in the Dominican monastery in Koblenz , where he was also buried. His grave slab has been preserved and is now in the former Jesuit college . It was last moved and restored within the building in the 1980s. The circumferential inscription was incomplete, the individual parts incorrectly arranged; today it reads (with broken abbreviations and supplemented parts): Effiges Herici de Rivenaco sacre theologie professoris herticeque pravatis inquisitoris, ordinis predicatorum quondam provincialis, Episcopi Venicomponensis provincie, obuius huius conventus domini MCCCCXCIII die XIIII Octobris, in medio chori sepulti, cuius aninma requiescat in pace . (loosely translated: “Portrait of Heinrich von Rübenach, professor of holy theology and persecutor of heretical deviations, provincial of the order of preachers, bishop of Venecompona, son of the local convent, died in the year of the Lord 1493 on October 14th, he was in the middle of Buried choirs, may his soul rest in peace ”).

The older research literature sees him as the author of a quests collection , for which, however, according to more recent research results, there is no basis.
