Thomas Wren (born January 2, 1826 in McArthurstown , Ohio , † February 5, 1904 in Reno , Nevada ) was an American politician . Between 1877 and 1879 he represented the state of Nevada in the US House of Representatives .

Early years

Thomas Wren attended public schools in his home country. He then moved to Illinois with his parents . In 1850 he moved to California , where he prospected for gold for three years. Between 1855 and 1857 he was Deputy District Administrator ( Deputy Clerk ) in El Dorado County . After studying law and becoming a lawyer, he began working in his new profession in Downeyville .

Political career

In 1863 he moved to the Nevada Territory , where he worked as a lawyer in various cities in the following years. From 1874 to 1876 he was an attorney for the city of Austin . He was also the President and Attorney of the Richmond Mining Company in Eureka . Thomas Wren joined the Republican Party . In 1875 he was a member of the Nevada Assembly . In the congressional elections of 1876 he was elected to succeed William Woodburn in the US House of Representatives. There he completed a legislative period between March 4, 1877 and March 3, 1879.

After his tenure in Congress , Thomas worked as an attorney in Reno. He died there on February 5, 1904.
