David Towell (1973)

David Gilmer Towell (born June 9, 1937 in Bronxville , New York , † June 10, 2003 in Reno , Nevada ) was an American politician . Between 1973 and 1975 he represented the state of Nevada in the US House of Representatives .

Early years

David Towell attended schools in Bronxville and New York City . He then studied at the University of the Pacific in Stockton ( California ) until 1960 . Between 1960 and 1966 he was a member of the Nevada National Guard Air Force. At that time, Towell also got into the real estate business.

Political career

Towell became a member of the Republican Party . In 1970 he headed their party organization in Douglas County . In 1968, 1970 and 1972 he was a delegate to local Republican conventions in Nevada. Towell was elected to the US House of Representatives in the 1972 congressional elections. There he replaced Walter S. Baring on January 3, 1973 . Since he was not confirmed in 1974, he was only able to serve one term in Congress until January 3, 1975 .

After his tenure in the House of Representatives, David Towell returned to the real estate business. In 1976 he ran unsuccessfully for the US Senate . He died in Reno on June 10, 2003.
