Charles Lenmore Richards (born October 3, 1877 in Austin , Nevada , †  December 22, 1953 in Reno , Nevada) was an American politician . Between 1923 and 1925 he represented the state of Nevada in the US House of Representatives .

Early years

Charles Richards attended public schools in Nevada and Pennsylvania . After studying law at Stanford University in California , he was admitted to the bar in 1901. Then he began to work in Tonopah in his new profession. From 1903 to 1904 he was a district attorney in Nye County .

Political career

Richards became a member of the Democratic Party . In 1919 he was a member of the Nevada Assembly . In 1922 he served as the leader of the Democratic Party in Nevada. From 1923 to 1924 he was also an advisor to the American Chamber of Commerce. In 1922, Richards was elected to the US House of Representatives. There he replaced Samuel S. Arentz on March 4, 1923 . However, since he was not confirmed in 1924, Charles Richards could only complete one legislative period until March 3, 1925 in Congress .

After his time in the federal capital Washington, DC , Richards worked as a lawyer in Reno until his death on December 22, 1953.
