Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic wrote that part of the explanation why Limp Bizkit stood out from the competition on their debut was their "frenetic energy". The band is influenced by Korn , the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Faith No More , but they play their sound well. He awarded four out of five stars.
