history

Before the amalgamation of Älvsborgs län , Skaraborgs län and Göteborgs och Bohus län to Västra Götalands län , Tibro belonged to the province of Skaraborgs län.

economy

The municipality is known for its furniture industry , as there are around 80 companies in the sector. Due to the proximity to Skövde , which is only 18 kilometers away, many employees also commute there.
