Death of a diver is a detective radio play of the series of radio crime scene . The original text comes from Matthias Wittekindt , which for the first time already by his predecessor Frank Göhre for the Norddeutscher Rundfunk designed Hamburger Detective Chief Commissioner Bettina Breuer and undercover Jac Garth man continues Ermittlerduo in his script. Diver's Death first aired on December 12, 2008. In addition to the main actors, other well-known speakers appeared with Oliver Wnuk , Svenja Pages , Wilfried Dziallas and Ulrich Faulhaber .

The present 12th case of the entire series and the second case of the Hamburg crime scene primarily revolves around the conspicuous accumulation of deaths of leading employees of the company REGENA, which is driving an offshore project for wind turbines near Büsum . In doing so, the investigators stumble upon the actual case more by chance.

content

For once, at the beginning of the radio crime scene, Jac Garthmann is on the road not as an undercover investigator, but in his capacity as a musician. During a funeral service he is supposed to entertain the mourners as a pianist . What is striking, however, is that there is no coffin for the late Jan Fall and that the said mourners are apparently upset. In the course of a conversation with the manager of the deceased, Garthmann learns that Jan Faller worked as a diver for the REGENA company. The company operates an offshore project for wind turbines in the vicinity of Büsum . When he told Detective Chief Inspector Bettina Breuer from the LKA Department OK about this bizarre experience in Hamburg , her inner alarm bells “ring”. Just the week before, the police found the chief accountant of REGENA dead in his Hamburg apartment under mysterious circumstances. In addition, an anonymous caller contacted the State Criminal Police Office and stated that Russians were being illegally employed by the REGENA owner , Horst Petzer, to build the wind turbines .

Jac Garthmann feels drawn into this emerging case for a special reason: he had to witness the collapse of Faller's widow, an old friend, without being able to stand by her. This time the Garthmann, who is not even covertly investigating, goes to Büsum on his own to cure a bronchitis on the one hand , to visit Silke Faller and on the other hand to give three concerts in an inn that REGENA sponsors. But already after the first concert he got into a tussle with locals. Apparently they have a lot against every foreign visitor who could be somehow connected to the REGENA .

When Garthmann meets his former acquaintance, the ornithologist Karsten Eisler, who works for the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park , he literally urges him to come to a bird island, where both of them find Jan Faller's body washed up on the coast. Since the pathological examination of the lungs suggests that he did not die a more or less natural death, Chief Inspector Breuer is seriously concerned about Garthmann.

The cool, pragmatic career policeman Breuer and the intuitive side entrant Garthmann, whose concert activities as a pianist and solo entertainer conceal his investigative work, will collide several times, as Breuer always wonders why this amateur has been assigned to her. But Garthmann's observation and moral instinct will give her the best direction several times. In this case it is revealed for the first time that Breuer has something to do with Garthmann despite the contradictions.

background

After the first part of the Hamburg crime scene series, Dirty Laundry , whose story and figure design was done by the writer Frank Göhre , Matthias Wittekindt took the template for the first time . In the following, the series of the Hamburg radio crime scene next to Wittekindt ( Death of a Diver , The Yellow Vices , Störtebeker's Revenge , Total Loss , The Blue Yacht ) was designed by Elisabeth Herrmann ( Schlick , Sunken Graves , Chicken Highway ).

Martin Reinke was asked in the interview that he would have created the role of Jac Garthmann in a very “Hamburg-style” way: “It's a kind of declaration of love to my hometown Hamburg. I'm a stage actor and unfortunately I only had one chance to play hamburgers on stage. And now I am finally lucky with Jac Garthmann to color him linguistically. "

review

  • “Although not all of his works have convinced me, the author has a knack for setting up first-class threat scenarios in his radio plays. In Death of a Diver , however, this only succeeds to a limited extent, which may be due to the fact that the series concept robs him of the necessary space here. Instead, he tells a twisting crime thriller that experiences an original - albeit somewhat strange - resolution. The sequence and setting are very reminiscent of the TV scene, which is not really a shortcoming, because the entertainment value of this episode is right. The investigator duo gets a little more color again, so that the two become a little more familiar. Garthmann in particular is becoming more and more a special figure who was built from many clichés, but none of them really want to fit together. This makes this role a bit strange, but it creates a special facet in this series. "
  • “In the media in which the references to radio broadcasts, if any, could only be found with a magnifying glass, radio is being heard again. And the reviews - no matter how they turn out - they are even detailed! "
