Toğrul Əsgərov
Toğrul Şəhriyar oğlu Əsgərov (also Toghrul Asgarov ; born September 17, 1992 in Gəncə ) is an Azerbaijani wrestler . He was runner- up in free style bantamweight world champion in 2010 and featherweight Olympic champion in 2012 .
Career
Toğrul Əsgərov started wrestling as a teenager in 2002. He focuses on free style and belongs to the Nefchi Baku sports club . His trainer there is Elchin Zainalow. He is a student and at the age of 18 is still at the beginning of his career, in which he was extremely successful, especially in the junior area. At a height of 1.71 meters he started in the bantam weight, the weight class up to 55 kg body weight, but due to his size should soon grow into the featherweight.
In 2008, 2009 and 2010 Toğrul Əsgərov was European champion in free style in the individual age groups of the juniors in the weight classes up to 46 kg, 54 kg and 55 kg (bantam weight). In 2010 he was also junior runner- up in bantamweight world champion in Budapest , losing just 1: 2 rounds with 6: 6 technical points in the final against Vladimer Chintschegashvili from Georgia , whom he had defeated at the 2010 European Junior Championships .
His first start in an international championship was at the 2010 World Cup in Moscow . He fought his way there in bantamweight with victories over Henry Moki N'Dive Molua, Cameroon , Bajaraagiin Naranbaatar , Mongolia , Ryswan Hajjyjeu , Belarus and Yasuhiro Inaba , Japan up to the final, in which he lost to Viktor Lebedew from Russia . As an 18-year-old and vice world champion, he once again explicitly demonstrated his extraordinary talent.
At the European Championships 2011 in Dortmund Toğrul Əsgərov wrestled in featherweight and had to pay a hard time there again. He lost his first fight there against the experienced Ukrainian Vasyl Fedoryschyn . Since this did not reach the final, he was eliminated and only came in 14th place.
In July 2011 he was in Bucharest Junior World Featherweight Champion and in March 2012 in Belgrade European Senior Champion, where he defeated Anatoli Guidea from Bulgaria in the final . The highlight of his career so far was the 2012 Olympic Games in London , where the 20-year-old won over Tim Schleicher , Germany , Kenichi Yumoto , Japan , Coleman Lewis Scott , United States and the four-time world champion and bronze medalist from the 2008 Olympic Games Bessik Kuduchow from Russia became Olympic champion .
At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , he won silver in the lightweight.
