The 7th stage of the Tour de France 2015 took place on July 10, 2015 and led from Livarot over 190.5 kilometers to Fougères . There was a mountain classification in the 4th category after 12.5 kilometers (Côte de Canapville) and an intermediate sprint after 65.5 kilometers in Argentan . The seventh stage counted as a flat stage. There were 186 drivers at the start.

Race course

After Tony Martin fell the day before, he did not start the 7th stage. According to the regulations, it was not reassigned. For this reason there was no one wearing the yellow jersey on the stage.

Initially, five drivers were ahead: Kristijan Đurasek (Lampre-Merida), Luis Ángel Maté (Cofidis), Anthony Delaplace , Brice Feillu (both Bretagne-Séché Environnement) and the wearer of the dotted jersey , Daniel Teklehaimanot (MTN-Qhubeka). He achieved the only mountain point that can be awarded on the stage. At the intermediate sprint, the five drivers had two and a half minutes ahead of the main field. Maté won the sprint, with John Degenkolb first in the main field .

In the field, mainly the teams Lotto-Soudal around André Greipel and Etixx-Quick Step around Mark Cavendish did the tempo work, which also had an effect. The lead of the escape group decreased continuously. 50 kilometers from the finish it was about 45 seconds. Seven kilometers from the end, the field was back together. Cavendish won the sprint ahead of Greipel, Peter Sagan , Degenkolb and Alexander Kristoff .

That day it became known that the Italian rider Luca Paolini had tested positive for cocaine after the fourth stage . He was then withdrawn from the race by his Katusha team immediately after it became known after the seventh stage.
