Career
Morin, who played on the position of the center , was initially active from 1999 for the ice hockey team at Osseo High School with games in the high school league system of the US state of Minnesota . Then the striker stayed until 2003 with the Chicago Steel , for which the left-handed shooter in the United States Hockey League - the most important junior ice hockey league in the United States - went on the ice. From 2003 to 2007 Morin studied at Minnesota State University and was also active for their ice hockey team in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association . In his last season, the 2006/07 season, he also led the team as team captain . In addition, he was appointed to the WCHA Second All-Star Team. During this time, the American was considered in the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in the ninth round in a total of 263rd position by the Washington Capitals .
After completing his studies, Morin made his professional debut during the 2006/07 season , when he played eight games for the South Carolina Stingrays in the ECHL . The attacker spent the following season mainly in the ECHL, but was also on the ice in four games for the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League . With 84 points, including 34 goals, he clearly led the internal scorer list in 2007/08 and took third place among the points collectors across the league (ECHL). Only David Desharnais (106) and Jeff Campbell (91) were more successful. Also in the 2008/09 game year , Morin was the third most successful scorer of the ECHL, but won the Kelly Cup with the South Carolina Stingrays and was honored with numerous individual awards. He received the ECHL Sportsmanship Award for high sporting standards and exemplary behavior, the ECHL Plus Performer Award for the best plus / minus balance in the league (+37) and an appointment to the ECHL First All-Star Team .
With the start of the 2009/10 season , the left-handed shooter succeeded in asserting himself right away with the Texas Stars in the American Hockey League. In his first season as a regular, Morin reached the Calder Cup finals with the Texans , but lost to the Hershey Bears. In July 2010, he signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League . In the course of the 2010/11 season , Morin made his debut for the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League and completed three matches without a point or penalty by the end of the season. In June 2011, the striker signed a new two-way contract with the Dallas Stars for a period of two years for an annual salary of $ 525,000 at the NHL level and $ 125,000 in a minor league . Notwithstanding the fact that he had only played in the American Hockey League in the following two seasons, he again agreed in the summer of 2013 on a two-way contract with a two-year term in the Dallas Stars organization.
In the 2013/14 season he won the Calder Cup with the Texas Stars for the first time and was honored with numerous individual awards for his outstanding achievements. Morin finished both the regular season and the playoffs as the league's best scorer. He then received the award as the best AHL player of the regular season as well as the finals. In the 2014/15 season , Morin ran as an alternative captain. For the 2015/16 season he was promoted to team captain of the Texas Stars.
