She says she still loves him, but is no longer in love, and that is not enough. Alan then cries out at Walden's. The next morning the world looks better for him again because he has convinced himself that Lyndsey doesn't want to part with him at all, just play a game with him. So he goes to her to apologize. Walden met Stacey at a party. Since she drank too much alcohol, he drives her home. He gets to know her grandmother Linda, with whom she lives together. After Linda puts Stacey to bed, she starts talking to Walden. He can't believe she's the grandmother. When Walden is about to leave, she invites him for tea and a joint. Then Walden tries to get closer to her, but she refuses. Jake is on vacation visiting his father. He tells him that he will shortly be transferred to Japan for at least a year. Alan is of course sad about it. When Walden comes home, he tells about his evening and that he doesn't know what to do now because he likes Linda.

So he invites both women to dinner. Since Stacey doesn't show much interest and wants to go to a party soon, Linda and Walden are alone again. But this time too, Walden does not manage to get closer to her. Alan suggests to Jake that they go on a trip together so they can spend some more time together. Walden visits Linda again, who says he came to see Stacey. She is about to send him away again when he says he brought a joint. So she lets him in, and soon they end up in bed. Alan and Jake are on their way to the Grand Canyon when they stay at a motel. Alan set aside money that he will now give to Jake so that he will have something when he goes to Japan.
