Tyler, the Creator
Tyler, the Creator (born March 6, 1991 in Los Angeles , California ; real name: Tyler Gregory Okonma ) is an American rapper and producer from Los Angeles. He was also the front man of the alternative hip-hop collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (OFWGKTA).
Career
Tyler attended twelve different schools in the Los Angeles area in his twelve school years. On October 25th, 2009 he released his first mixtape, Bastard . However, his breakthrough came in February 2011 with his video for the debut single Yonkers of his debut album Goblin , which got some media attention in the USA as well as in Germany and Great Britain ; not least because the text was perceived as rough and insulting. He was called homophobic because of what he said on Twitter , which he denied. By his own testimony he used the words "gay" (English. Gay ) and "fagot" (English. Fagot ) only to "describe stupid shit" around. Tyler was named MTV's Best New Artist in 2011 . He owns his own record label and TV show on Cartoon Network . 2019 he contributed a rap album The Risky sets of Westbam at. In 2014, the New Zealand authorities denied him and Odd Future entry on the grounds that they were “a potential threat to public order”. In 2015, British authorities imposed a three to five year entry ban on him.
Goblin
The first studio album Goblin from 2011 sold almost 45,000 times in the US in the first week. In Canada , Ireland and Great Britain, too, it mostly reached places in the top 50 and received mostly good reviews. Lyrically it is mostly about his father, who left him early in childhood, or the hatred of pop culture , e.g. B. Taylor Swift or Bruno Mars .
wolf
Early in 2010, Tyler announced that his second album would be titled Wolf . In 2011 he confirmed to his fans on Formspring that the album was titled Wolf and that it should be released in May 2012. The album leads the sessions with Dr. TC continues, his fictional therapist from Bastard and the follow-up album Goblin . Dr. TC (“Therapist Character”) stands for Tyler's various alter egos (including Tron Cat, Tyler's Conscience) and can already be heard on the first album Bastard , where he also says: “This is the first of three sessions…”. The album is said to contain more beats than raps. Tyler said in an interview that he no longer cares about things like rape, that he wants to play weird hippie music and rap about money smartly. It also said: “People who want the first album again, I can't do that. I was 18, broke as fuck. On my third album, I have money and I'm hanging out with my idols. I can't rap about the same shit. ”At the end of 2012 the album still hadn't been released. It wasn't until March 2013 that it was released on iTunes .
Cherry Bomb
On April 9, 2015, Tyler published the song Fucking Young on the official OFWGKTA YouTube page with a music video shot for it and a short excerpt from another new song called Deathcamp . Tyler announced that same day that the two songs would be on his upcoming album Cherry Bomb , which was released on April 13, 2015.
Igor
The fifth album Igor was released on May 17, 2019 and was also Tyler's first album to reach number one on the Billboard 200 . He also received the award for the best rap album of the year at the Grammy Awards the following year.
