Tyler Haskins (born May 26, 1986 in Madison , Ohio ) is a former American ice hockey player who played during his career with the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg in the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
Tyler Haskins began his career as a hockey player with the Sioux City Musketeers, for which he was active in the North American junior league United States Hockey League in the 2001/02 season and with which he immediately won the Clark Cup , the USHL championship. The center then played from 2002 to 2007 for Guelph Storm , the Toronto St. Michael's Majors and Saginaw Spirit in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League . During this period he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in the fifth round as a total of 162 players by the Detroit Red Wings , for which he however never played. Instead, he ran from 2007 to 2010 for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the American Hockey League , where he was mainly used in the 2007/08 season for their farm team Utah Grizzlies in the ECHL .
For the 2010/11 season , Haskins was signed by the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg from the German Ice Hockey League , after having completed several weeks of trial training in Wolfsburg. At the Lower Saxony, the American was able to convince straight away and, as the fourth most successful player in his team, made a significant contribution to reaching the first place in the table after the main round with 39 points, eleven of which were goals, in 49 games. For this reason, his contract was prematurely extended to 2012. At the end of 2012 it became known that the contract had been extended again to 2014. In the 2013/14 season , Haskins became captain of Wolfsburg and in this position was the successor to Kai Hospelt, who had migrated to Adler Mannheim before the season . In February 2016, Haskins received a contract extension from Lower Saxony until 2020. After the playoffs in 2018, the US-American, who was team captain in Wolfsburg, declared his career end for health reasons (several concussions). His jersey number 10 was then banned by the grizzlies.
