The first U-16 soccer Asian championship was held in 1985 in Qatar . The tournament started on February 1st and ended on February 10th . The winner was Saudi Arabia with a victory on penalties to the hosts . The two finalists qualified for the 1985 U-16 World Cup .

qualification

The 20 registered teams played two final round participants in four groups. The host of the final round was selected from among the qualified nations.

Group 1A

Group 1A played in Doha , Qatar from September 14-21, 1984 . Of the seven teams registered, Bangladesh , Hong Kong and Sri Lanka did not compete.
