U 36 is a type 212A submarine of the German Navy .

history

Ordered as the second unit of the second batch of submarine class 212A, U 36 was laid down on August 19, 2008 and launched for the first time on February 6, 2013. The boat was christened on May 15, 2013.

In January 2015, massive deficiencies in the U 36 and sister submarine U 35 became known. At the beginning of 2015, the wave system, the drive battery, the radar and the “Callisto” radio buoy were not running as planned. There were also problems with the other boats of the submarine class 212 A (as of early 2015). In 2015, Spiegel quoted a unit price of around 500 million euros for the U 35 and U 36.

In 2018, the U 36 came from a nearly one-year repair at the manufacturer. In January 2019, she sailed for Norway and took part in maneuvers there. On May 14, 2019, she hit the ground while leaving the Norwegian military port of Haakonsvern .

Since the commissioning on October 10, 2016, the boat has belonged to the 1st submarine squadron in Eckernförde .

Sponsorship

The Saxon city of Plauen took on the sponsorship of the “GOLF” drive-in crew of the submarine .
