Whereabouts
On July 24, 1915, U 36 ran into the British submarine trap HMS Prince Charles near the island of North Rona . Unsuspecting, the boat came within 600 meters of the ship when the Prince Charles suddenly hoisted the British war flag and opened fire. U 36 was completely surprised and sank after heavy hits. The commander and 15 of his people were saved. 18 seafarers were killed.
