U 2 was a German submarine that was built for the Imperial Navy . It wasorderedfrom the Imperial Shipyard in Danzig on March 4, 1906andput into serviceon July 18, 1908 under the command of Lieutenant Karl Bartenbach . U 2 did not go on patrolin World War I , but was used as a training boat. After the capitulation of the German Empire, the boat was removed from the list of warships on February 19, 1919. In 1920 it was sold to the Stinnes company for scrapping.
