SM U 10 was a petroleum-electric submarine of the German Imperial Navy that was used in the First World War .

Calls

U 10 was launched on January 24, 1911 at the Imperial Shipyard in Danzig and was put into service on August 31, 1911. The first and last commander of the submarine was Lieutenant Captain Fritz Stuhr .

In six war missions, the commander and his crew achieved seven sinks against merchant ships of the Entente and neutral states with a total tonnage of 1,625  GRT .

Whereabouts

On May 27, 1916, U 10 ran from Libau towards the waters north of Gotland . After that his track is lost. Exact details of the time, place and cause of the loss are not known. It is believed that all 29 crew members perished in the Gulf of Finland in June 1916 . Possible causes are a collision with a mine and an average as a result of human error or technical defects.
