Ulrich Kallius (born October 4, 1945 ) is a former German football player . From 1964 to 1971 the striker played 174 games and scored 105 goals in what was then the second -rate regional soccer league North . With VfL Osnabrück he won the championship twice in the Regionalliga Nord in 1970 and 1971.

Career

The son of a German and a Swede comes from the island of Rügen . On the Flensburg Fjord , with the Blue-Yellows of Flensburg 08 , his talent as an offensive footballer quickly developed. In the 1963/64 season he was accepted by the DFB in the youth national team. He made his debut on March 8, 1964 at the international match in Loerrach against Switzerland in the A-Junior selection. To the 2-1 success of the German talents, teammate Franz Beckenbauer contributed both goals as an outside runner in the World Cup system then practiced . Berti Vogts defended and “Ole” Kallius formed the left wing on half left with winger Werner Waddey . At the 1964 UEFA youth tournament in the Netherlands, the youth player from Flensburg played in Enschede in a 2-1 win over the Swedes on March 26th. Like Beckenbauer, he distinguished himself as a goalscorer.

For the round 1964/65 he surprisingly accepted the offer of the regional league club FC Altona 93 from Hamburg, since he was also courted by Hamburger SV and Eintracht Frankfurt from the Bundesliga, and switched to the black-white-reds from Adolf-Jäger -Fighting Track . In his debut year in the regional league, 1964/65 , he was able to prove his scoring risk right away with 21 goals in 29 league appearances. Altona took third place one point behind runner-up St. Pauli. The AFC was trained by Kurt Krause and the teammates included Horst Wendlandt , Wolfgang Wellnitz and Karl-Heinz Pape . In the first half of the season, the home game against St. Pauli ended 3: 3 draw and on March 28, 1965 Kallius and colleagues lost the top game with 2: 3 goals in front of over 11,000 spectators in the second leg. On April 25, 1965, Kallius was the winning goal scorer in the 1-0 away win against champion Holstein Kiel, where the two strikers Gerd Saborowski and Gerd Koll missed out on the storks' side. On the last round match day, May 9, 1965, the newcomer from Flensburg scored both goals for a 2-1 win at VfB Oldenburg.

After the weaker second year, - 1965/66: 7th place; 20 games with four goals; At the AFC, in addition to injury breaks, three coaches - Behrens, Erb and Ullmann - were on duty - the attacker played for three years at FC St. Pauli from 1966 to 1969 . In the brown-whites of the Millerntor Stadium , the former youth national player immediately found his goal danger again. Kallius scored in 81 regional league appearances under the coaches Kurt Krause (1966/67 to December 1967), Heinz Hempel (December 1967 to May 1968) and Erwin Türk (1968/69), as well as at the side of teammates like Ingo Porges , Peter Osterhoff , Peter Gehrke , Werner Pokropp , Wolfgang Wellnitz, Udo Nix , Reinhard Löffler , Dieter Flamme and Detlef Rosellen 50 goals. The desired entry into the Bundesliga promotion round was not successful. Third place in 1968/69 behind champions VfL Osnabrück and one point behind runner-up VfB Lübeck was the best result in the three rounds at St. Pauli.

Kallius accepted the contract offer from the champions of the 1968/69 season, VfL Osnabrück, and switched to the purple-whites for the 1969/70 season. The loss of goal scorer Wolfgang Kaniber had to be replaced in the stadium at Bremer Brücke . With the association for physical exercises, the man from Flensburg celebrated twice winning the championship in the Regionalliga Nord in 1970 and 1971 . In 44 league games he scored 30 goals for Lower Saxony. In the promotion rounds he could not prevail with the teammates Andreas Burose (goalkeeper), Friedhelm Holtgrave (captain), Karl August Tripp (libero) and the three offensive colleagues Harald Braner , Carsten Baumann and Willi Mumme ; Kallius did not succeed in promotion to the Bundesliga with two goals in his 14 games.

On September 30, 1969 he was together with VfL colleague Willi Mumme in the NFV selection at the game in Kiel against Jutland. In the 4-0 win they played alongside Bundesliga players Klaus Zaczyk , Franz-Josef Hönig , Hans-Jürgen Hellfritz , Hans Schulz , Horst Wolter , Max Lorenz , Erich Maas , Horst-Dieter Höttges and Arnold Schütz . On September 10, 1969 and October 29, 1969, Kallius took part in the games of North Germany against West Germany and Berlin in the DFB Regional Cup. He scored the only goal in the 1-0 win against West Germany. However, the competition was not ended.

After the second unsuccessful attempt with Osnabrück in the BL promotion round in the summer of 1971, he accepted the offer of the Bundesliga club Rot-Weiß Oberhausen and moved to the Lower Rhine together with Willi Mumme for the 1971/72 season. The “clover leaf” eleven from coach Günter Brocker took 15th place and Kallius had played twelve Bundesliga games (1 goal) alongside other players like Franz-Josef Tenhagen , Ludwig Denz , Reiner Hollmann and Uwe Kliemann .

After a year on the Lower Rhine, his sporting path led to Belgium , where he played for KAS Eupen and ROC Montignies-sur-Sambre . In the Belgian second division Eupen he was the top scorer in 1972/73. Three years followed in Charleroi for the attacker, where he was able to celebrate promotion to the first division in 1973/74. After a serious knee injury with several operations, Kallius had to end his professional career after a few top division games in late 1975.
