Uroš Pavlovčič was from 1987 in the Yugoslav and Slovenian national team. In November 1994 he first appeared in the Nor-Am Cup . Between 1995 and 1999 he studied at Sierra Nevada College and competed in internal competitions with members of the US ski team. In 1997 he won the gold medal in giant slalom and bronze in slalom at the Winter Universiade in Muju, Korea . Two years later he had to admit defeat to the future Olympic champion Jean-Pierre Vidal when he won the silver medal in his favorite discipline . He also won the 1999 US giant slalom championships and, while still a student, won four races in the Nor-Am Cup as well as numerous college competitions.
On October 31, 1999, Pavlovčič made his World Cup debut in the giant slalom in Sölden and won points straight away as 29th. In the same winter he reached four more places in the points, including a seventh place in the slalom on Chuenisbärgli , which remained his best result in this discipline. In addition, he started mainly in the European Cup . In the next World Cup season he qualified with several top 20 placements for the 2001 World Championships in St. Anton , where he finished 21st in the giant slalom. On December 20, 2001, he achieved his only World Cup podium finish in third behind Fredrik Nyberg and Benjamin Raich at the home race in Kranjska Gora . At the Olympic Games in Park City , he was eliminated in the second round of the giant slalom. In the winter of 2002/03 he achieved two top 10 placements in Alta Badia and Kranjska Gora. From January 2003 he only competed in FIS races in the USA, which he stopped a good two years later.
After his World Cup career, Pavlovčič started as an NCAA coach at Boise State University in 2003 . Since 2006 he has been a coach at Buck Hill Ski Racing Club in Minnesota . In addition, he has been running his own summer ski camps in Saas-Fee since 2004 .
