Collingwood is a city in Simcoe County in southeastern Ontario , Canada .

The city is located on the southern shore of Georgian Bay and is approximately 25 km northwest of the city of Barrie .
history
Collingwood was officially founded in 1858. The first settlers settled in what is now the urban area around 1840. It got its name from its namesake Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood.
