Vélingara (department)

The Vélingara department with the capital Vélingara is one of 45 departments that make up Senegal and one of three departments that make up the Kolda region . It is located in southern Senegal and can be found in the very east of the Casamance , bordered by Gambia and Guinea-Bissau . The Kayanga , as the upper reaches of the Rio Geba are called here, lie here and the geological feature of the Vélingara crater . The eastern border forms, as part of the Niokolo-Koba National Park , the Koulountou , the strongest tributary of the Gambia .
