The Transdev Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH (until March 15, 2015 Veolia Transport Saxony-Anhalt ) is a railway company , which until December 2018 under the name HEX (Harz Elbe Express), the December 2005 transport services in passenger traffic of Nordharz network services provided.
history
Connex Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH, based in Halberstadt, was founded on July 1, 2004, after the “Nordharz-Netz” local rail transport services had been transferred to the Connex Regiobahn in March by the state of Saxony-Anhalt.
The HarzElbeExpress started operating on December 11, 2005, followed by the takeover of the “Klesener” bus company in 2006, which from then on operated under the “SalzlandBus” brand. The bus company was sold in February 2009.
Also in 2006, following the parent company , the company was changed from Connex Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH to Veolia Verkehr Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH.
On April 1, 2008, the Leipzig – Geithain route (KBS 525) was added, which was taken over by Connex Sachsen after a tender. In December 2008, management was transferred to the newly founded Mitteldeutsche Regiobahn, a brand of Transdev Regio Ost .
As of December 14, 2014, all lines of the Harz-Elbe-Express were numbered.
On March 16, 2015, the name of Veolia Verkehr Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH was changed to Transdev Sachsen-Anhalt , as the owners also changed the name from Veolia Verkehr to Transdev .
Incidents
On January 29, 2011, the Hordorf train accident occurred with ten dead on the Magdeburg – Thale railway line , in which a freight train and a HEX local train collided in Hordorf .

LINT 41 and LINT 27 built by Alstom were used as vehicle material .
The vehicles were procured by Veolia Transportation, sold to and leased from CB Rail .
- ↑ Line HEX 24 was not put out to tender, was newly introduced with the timetable change in December 2015 and replaces line HEX 44 between Halle (Saale) and Aschersleben.
RE4 Halle – Halberstadt – Goslar
In December 2015, the local transport service company Sachsen-Anhalt and the Zweckverband Greater Braunschweig terminated the use of tilting technology in regional traffic between Halle (Saale) and Goslar, which until then had been handled by DB Regio Südost with class 612 railcars . Instead, Transdev received the order to also operate the relevant line 4 with LINT 41 multiple units. The extension of the travel time by ten minutes was explicitly accepted and justified with the hourly frequency resulting from the combination of the existing (new HEX 24) and additional (new HEX 4) services.
Harz-Berlin-Express (HBX)
At the weekend, Transdev Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH extended some trains to and from Berlin under the name Harz-Berlin-Express for day trippers and weekend commuters, these connections were abbreviated as HBX (in the official DB timetable media, however, the trains to and from Berlin were also listed - like all other regional trains of Transdev Sachsen-Anhalt - referred to as train type HEX). Most recently, a total of six trips were offered per week, three each in the direction of Berlin (Friday evening, Saturday evening and Sunday evening) and three in the direction of the Harz (Saturday morning, Sunday morning and Sunday evening). One part of the train started in Thale and a second in Goslar ; In Halberstadt , the two parts of the train were coupled and drove together via Oschersleben , Magdeburg , Genthin and Potsdam to Berlin - the end of the train was Berlin Ostbahnhof (other stops in Berlin: Wannsee , Zoo , Hauptbahnhof , Friedrichstrasse and Alexanderplatz ). In the opposite direction, the train in Halberstadt was divided accordingly . This connection was previously offered by DB AG , but in consultation with the state of Saxony-Anhalt, it was taken over by Transdev on December 11, 2005, and LINT 41 double multiple units have been used since then . Since December 9, 2012, the HBX has also stopped at Berlin Central Station. With the timetable change on December 14, 2014, the HBX was extended to Goslar.
Outside of Saxony-Anhalt, between Genthin and Berlin Ostbahnhof, the HEX operated as an independent long-distance train (comparable to the InterConnex and Vogtland-Express ), east of Genthin (last stop in Saxony-Anhalt), the DB tariff therefore did not apply . For passengers from Saxony-Anhalt to Berlin and Potsdam (or vice versa), a special all-inclusive price was offered in the HBX. Tickets were only available from the customer service representative during the journey. For journeys in the western (primarily Saxony-Anhalt) section of the HBX, however, the normal DB local transport tariff and the free transport of the severely disabled continued to apply, since the HBX operated in these areas as a local train on behalf of the state of Saxony-Anhalt. At the timetable change on December 9, 2018, Abellio Rail Central Germany took over these services.
Train baptism
Since December 11, 2005, a total of eleven railcars have been christened with the names of regional specialties:

- Blossom city Blankenburg (Harz)
- THW Halberstadt
- Wernigerode Brocken Express

- The Ilsetaler
Loss of all services in December 2018
With the timetable change on December 9, 2018, Transdev Sachsen-Anhalt lost all previous services and thus the entire basis of its business activity. Instead, the local transport service company Saxony-Anhalt awarded the relevant orders to Abellio Rail Mitteldeutschland until 2032 . As with previous such operator changes, the future of the workforce at Transdev Sachsen-Anhalt was not a subject of the award procedure in this case. Abellio Rail Mitteldeutschland announced that it will take over the previous train crew from Transdev Sachsen-Anhalt.
Eleven LINT-41 and four LINT-27 railcars will be adapted for operation in the Czech Republic from December 2018 and will be used by Leo Express from mid-2019 . Five LINT 41s operate in North Rhine-Westphalia at the sister company NordWestBahn . Three LINT-27 railcars will remain in Saxony-Anhalt . You are on the move on the Hanseatic Railway in the Stendal area. Two LINT 41s are currently on loan to Erixx GmbH due to damage to their vehicles.
