The 8.4 km long Vers is with a catchment area of over 40 km², which occupies the southwest arm of the natural area Salzbödetal , by far the most important tributary of the Salzböde in the Gladenbacher Bergland , Central Hesse .
origin of the name
The onomastic Jürgen Udolph derives the Bach name verse from the Indo-European root * pers - for "spray", "splash". The verse would therefore be “the spraying” or “the spraying”. Similar water names are u. a. to be found in northwest Germany, such as the Verse , a tributary of the Lenne in the Sauerland .
geography
course
The source of the Vers is located directly on the watershed between its mother river Salzböde and the dill tributary Aar , which occupies the natural area of Niederweidbacher Becken to the west . It is half-circled by the state road 3047 between the Dünsberg in the south and the Zollbuche in the north to the west and is located in the Lahn-Dill district , about 1.5 km southeast of Wilsbach (municipality of Bischoffen ) and about 2 km northeast of Erda (municipality of Hohenahr ).
The river soon leaves the Lahn-Dill district to the east, crosses a short, unpopulated part of the district of Gießen and reaches the district of Marburg-Biedenkopf , where its course changes towards the northeast. West of Kirchvers (municipality Lohra ) flows it the Frankenbach from the same place (municipality Biebertal , Gießen district ) from right side to, in Kirchvers finally from Dünsberg and location Krumbach coming (also Biebertal) Krumbach .
In the following course, the verse always remains on the Lohra district and accompanies / limits the Krofdorfer Forest , which, like the Dünsberg, is part of the Krofdorf-Königsberger Forest natural area , northwest. From left her only flows from the direction Weipoltshausen of Windelsbach , the eastern south of the natural space inch beech sprung from Rodenhausen , Seelbach , Rollshausen and Altenvers coming Krebsbach to.
Immediately below Reimershausen at the Rauchmühle, the Vers finally flows from the right into the Salzböde , which immediately after the mouth leaves the Salzbödetal natural area and crosses the Krofdorfer Forest in a south-easterly direction.
