from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Krofdorf-Königsberger Forest is a sub- natural area (320.05) of the Gladenbacher Bergland (main unit 320) in the extreme east of the Rhenish Slate Mountains , located in the central Hessian districts of Gießen and Lahn-Dill district , and to a minimal extent also Marburg-Biedenkopf .

The natural area includes the large contiguous forest area of the Krofdorfer Forest in the east . The highest and best known elevation is the 498 m high Dünsberg immediately west of this forest .

Location and limits

The Krofdorf-Königsberger Forest is bounded clockwise as follows:

In the eastern north is the Krumbach , from whose confluence with the Vers the middle and lower reaches of the Vers Grenzfluss, until it flows into the salt flats .

To the south-east of this mouth, the forest extends north-east just over the lower reaches of the salt flats, which flows through the north-east in south-westerly directions, out to Fronhausen .

The western and southern borders are formed by the Giessener Lahntalsenke downstream of the Lahn and, from Wetzlar , upstream of the Dill to the mouth of the Lemp . From that mouth, the Lemp is upstream to Oberlemp western border to the Hörre .

In the middle north, the southern watershed of the Dill tributary Aar is the approximate northern limit, although the source areas of some of the Aar tributaries are still just in the Krofdorf-Königsberger Forest.

places

Places in the interior of the Krofdorf-Königsberger Forest are (from west to east) Ehringshausen - Breitenbach , Aßlar - Bechlingen , Wetzlar - Blasbach , Hohenahr - Hohensolms (in the extreme north) and the Biebertal districts of Königsberg and Fellingshausen, which are clearly separated from each other by the Dünsberg massif .
