Oberlemp is a district of the small town of Asslar in the Lahn-Dill district in central Hesse .
geography
The village is located in the Lemptal of the Gladenbacher Bergland . Niederlemp is to the west and Bermoll to the north . About one kilometer south is Bechlingen and about 3 kilometers further is the core town of Asslar. The next larger city is Wetzlar .
history
The village shares the oldest known mention as Lempha from the year 845 in the Lorsch Codex with the neighboring village of Niederlemp. It belonged to the county of Solms . When the noble family split into the lines of Solms-Braunfels and Solms-Lich at the beginning of the 15th century , Oberlemp fell to Solms-Lich and was henceforth assigned to the Hohensolms office.
With the reorganization as a result of the Congress of Vienna , the village became Prussian and belonged to the mayor's office of Aßlar in the district of Wetzlar . After the mayor's offices in the district were dissolved in 1934, Oberlemp was self-employed.
Territorial reform
As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the municipality of Oberlemp was incorporated into the municipality of Aßlar on December 31, 1971 with other places on a voluntary basis . In November 1978 Asslar was given the right to use the designation city. For Oberlemp, as for all districts of the city, a local district with a local advisory board and a local mayor was set up.
