The Weißenhäuser Brök is a nature reserve in the Schleswig-Holstein community of Wangels in the Ostholstein district .

The 57 hectare nature reserve is registered with the number 42 in the directory of nature reserves of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Areas of the State of Schleswig-Holstein . It was expelled in 1942. The nature reserve is part of the FFH area "Strandseen der Hohwachter Bucht". The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Ostholstein district.

The nature reserve is located northwest of Oldenburg in Holstein . It places a dune landscape in the southeast of the Hohwacht Bay and part of the beach in front of it under protection. The area is predominantly grassy and heath -covered dunes coined. In some places bushes falter. The Oldenburger Graben drains through the nature reserve into the Hohwacht Bay.

The dunes offer a habitat for a variety of flora and fauna. Plants and animals are often particularly drought and warmth-loving. Numerous fern and flowering plants have been identified here, including sea thistle , stemless scraper , broom , quiver grass, heather carnation , common heather , small meadow rue and large cartilage lettuce . Salt -loving and salt-tolerant plants such as sea mustard , brine, chickweed and sea cabbage also grow on the rinsing lines . The nature reserve is of particular importance for invertebrates such as beetles , wild bees , digger wasps , spiders and grasshoppers .

Parts of the nature reserve are grazed with Scottish highland cattle.

To the south, the state protection dike borders the nature reserve or runs through it. The area between the nature reserve and the nature reserve " Wesseker See ", which lies a little to the south, is used for tourism. There is a campsite and a holiday and leisure park here . Several paths to the beach run through the dune landscape.

The area is looked after by the Geobotany Working Group in Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg.
