History and sights

The local church was once called St. Margarethen am Walde . The first documentary evidence of a church building comes from a letter of indulgence for the parish of St. Georgen im Attergau from 1299. The current place name appears only in the 15th century, which indicates that an earlier wooden church was replaced by a stone building (choir of the new Gothic church dated 1512). The place has remained a small parish until today.
