Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig von Holleben (born October 15, 1840 in Torgau , † November 27, 1912 ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and author .

Life

He was the son of the Prussian Rittmeister Wilhelm Karl von Holleben (1802–1843) and his wife Louise, née von Selchow (1811–1886). The future general of the infantry Albert von Holleben (1835-1906) was his older brother.

Career

Holleben graduated from the cadet corps and was transferred to Koblenz on May 8, 1858 as a second lieutenant in the 8th Pioneer Department of the Prussian Army . This was followed from June 9, 1860, a service in the Guard Pioneer Battalion , where Holleben was appointed engineer officer on October 11, 1860 with a patent from May 5, 1858. In mid-June 1864 he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant and was transferred to the 2nd Rhenish Infantry Regiment No. 28 in Jülich on September 25, 1867 . From March 22, 1868 to March 20, 1871, Holleben was assigned to the Oranienstein Cadet House . In the meantime, under position à la suite , he was transferred to the Hanoverian Fusilier Regiment No. 73 on March 16, 1869 and promoted to captain on March 17, 1870 . On March 20, 1871, Holleben was transferred to the cadet house in Potsdam and on July 25, 1874 as a company commander in the cadet house in Berlin . From January 11, 1877 to August 11, 1879, Holleben was again active in the troop service and acted as chief of the 3rd company in the Brandenburg Fusilier Regiment No. 35 . Subsequently, with the promotion to major, he was appointed commander of the cadet house in Potsdam. During his period of service, he built a porter's house and, in 1880, the construction of the previously nonexistent showers .

Holleben was from October 14, 1884 battalion commander in the Oldenburg Infantry Regiment No. 91 and on March 22, 1886 took up a position as a staff officer in the main cadet institute . In this capacity, Holleben rose to lieutenant colonel on January 22, 1887 and was commissioned to command the 3rd Magdeburg Infantry Regiment 66 on March 22, 1889 under position à la suite . As a colonel , he was in command of this regiment from May 22, 1889 to June 17, 1892 . Then he took over with the promotion to major general of the 27th Infantry Brigade in Düsseldorf . With the approval of his resignation request , Holleben was put up for disposal on May 14, 1894 with the statutory pension . On the occasion of the 200th birthday of the deceased Emperor Wilhelm I , Wilhelm II gave him the character of Lieutenant General on March 22, 1897 .

In addition to his military activities, Holleben worked on an honorary basis as a member of the general committee of the German Agricultural Society and as a member of the German Hagelversicherungs-Gesellschaft.

Holleben married Ida von Bernuth (* 1846) on September 19, 1864 in Groß-Oschersleben . The following children were born from the marriage:
