Karl Wilhelm August von Schon (born May 15, 1800 in Warsaw , † June 30, 1857 in Glogau ) was a Prussian major general .

Wilhelm was the son of the Prussian major general Karl von Schon (1765-1818) and his wife Juliane, born von Donop (1779-1847).

Military career

Already attended the city ​​schools in Warsaw and Treptow an der Rega as well as the high school in Königsberg in the Neumark . From October 1812 he was a cadet in Berlin , but was sent home early in mid-September 1813. He joined the 1st Pomeranian Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as a musketeer on October 3, 1814 and took part in the sieges of Maubeuge and Philippeville and the battles at Ligny and Waterloo during the Wars of Liberation .

After the war he was promoted to secondary lieutenant in March 1816 and from October 1818 to the end of July 1821 he was commanded for further training at the General War School. After returning to his regiment, he initially acted as an adjutant of the fusilier battalion, then became regimental adjutant and in this position on May 14, 1829 promoted to prime lieutenant.
