Wilhelm von Schuckmann

Wilhelm Dietrich Ludwig von Schuckmann (born December 17, 1785 in Hornhausen , † March 24, 1856 in Mölln near Neubrandenburg ) was a Prussian major general and lord of Mölln.

Life

Wilhelm was the son of Hermann Heinrich Johann von Schuckmann (1747–1804) and his wife Adelheid Friederike Luise, née Countess von der Schulenburg (1763–1846) from the Hornhausen family. His father was a master on Mölln and a Prussian lieutenant colonel a. D. , most recently in the Leib-Kürassier-Regiment .

Military career

Schuckmann studied at the University of Erlangen and then was a trainee at the Higher Regional Court in Ansbach . In the Fourth Coalition War he volunteered for the Prussian Army and joined the Silesian Light Infantry. In 1807 he fought in the defense of Glatz and the battles at Canth and Adersbach .

After the Treaty of Tilsit , Schuckmann came to the Silesian Rifle Battalion on February 17, 1809. During the Wars of Liberation he was wounded in the Battle of Großgörschen and was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class. On June 28, 1813, he was promoted to Premier Lieutenant. He fought at Bautzen and received a commendation for Dresden . Then he was at Kulm , Leipzig , Laon , Paris , Ligny and Belle Alliance . He also fought in the battles near Nollendorf, Jeanvillers, Champaubert and Mery.

After the war, Schuckmann was transferred to the Guard Jäger battalion on April 5 as captain and company commander . On March 30, 1829, he joined the 26th Infantry Regiment as a major and two years later became the commander of the Fusilier Battalion. In 1838 he received the Russian Order of Saint Stanislaus II. Class and was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 30, 1840 with a patent from April 17, 1840. On March 25, 1841 he was commissioned to lead the 7th Infantry Regiment before Schuckmann was appointed commander on September 12, 1841. In this position he rose to colonel on April 7, 1842 . He got his departure on June 16, 1846 with the character of major general and a pension . He died on March 24, 1856 on his Mölln estate.

Schuckmann married Friederike Karoline Bernhardine Countess von der Schulenburg (1806-1852), a daughter of Count Achatz von der Schulenburg-Hornhausen, in Magdeburg on August 13, 1830 . The couple had several children:
