William Hale

William Hale (born November 18, 1837 in New London , Henry County , Iowa , † January 13, 1885 in Cheyenne , Wyoming ) was an American politician ( Republican Party ).

Hale attended public schools and then studied law . He was admitted to the bar at the age of 21 and immediately started practicing. He joined the Republican Party and became the Iowa presidential elector in 1868. President Chester A. Arthur named him governor of the Territory of Wyoming on July 18, 1882 . He took his oath of office on August 3, 1882 and then held office until his death in 1885.
