Frank Collins Emerson (born May 26, 1882 in Saginaw , Michigan , † February 18, 1931 ) was an American politician ( Republican Party ), who was governor of the state of Wyoming from 1927 to 1931 .

Career

Emerson graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering . He then moved to Wyoming, where he held a number of senior engineering positions and was a state engineer from 1919 to 1927 . With the claim that his replacement in 1923 by the later Governor William Ross was inadmissible, he moved to the State Supreme Court , which then actually reinstated him. Three years later he ran for governor against Nellie Tayloe Ross , who was elected governor after the death of her husband, and won. During his tenure as governor, Emerson played an important role in the development of Wyoming's natural resources. He was re-elected for a second term, but died less than two months after taking office. He was then buried in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

He was married to Zennia Jean Reynders and the couple had three children together.
