William Alain André Gabriel Saliba (born March 24, 2001 in Bondy ) is a French football player who is under contract with Arsenal FC .

Career

Saliba started playing soccer at the age of 6, trained by Kylian Mbappé's father . He moved to AS Saint-Étienne in 2016. He signed his first contract on May 30, 2018 at the age of 17. Saliba made his debut as a professional player for Saint-Étienne in a 3-2 win against FC Toulouse on September 25, 2018 in Ligue 1 .

At the end of July 2019, Arsenal FC acquired the transfer rights to Saliba, who will, however, remain in the AS Saint-Étienne squad on loan in the 2019/20 season . It was used in 12 of 28 games before the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

On July 1, 2020, Saliba finally moved to the Premier League for Arsenal FC. The clubs could not agree on participation in the 2019/20 cup final , which had to be postponed to July 24th. For the remainder of the Premier League season, which ended at the end of July, Saliba was not eligible to play, but only from the 2020/21 season .
