Willian Souza Arão da Silva (born December 3, 1992 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian midfielder .

Career

Willian Arão's parents divorced at the age of eight. He grew up with his father. He began his career in 2008 at the São Paulo club . After three years at the club, he moved to Espanyol Barcelona for eight months . Due to internal difficulties, he did not extend the contract for the first division and moved back to Brazil. In October 2011 he signed a contract with Corinthians São Paulo . He made his debut six months later, in April 2012. He was used for the entire game and received a yellow card in the 89th minute. The club won the game 2-1. From May to September 2012 he played seven games and usually led the game. In October he suffered a minor injury, the club lost 2-0 to Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte . In December he was nominated for the FIFA Club World Cup , but did not appear in two games. From 2013 to 2014 he was loaned by the Portuguesa , Chapecoense , Atlético Goianiense clubs . In 2015 he moved to Botafogo FR in Rio de Janeiro and the following year to local rival Flamengo Rio de Janeiro . The move to Flamengo was connected with a legal battle that Arão led with Botafogo. The process concerned a contractual clause, according to which Botafogo Arão could have been bound by a one-off payment for another year. Arão won this process in February 2017. In July 2017, negotiations about a move to Galatasaray Istanbul were announced. With Flamengo he won on November 23, 2019 2019 the Copa Libertadores . One day later, the preliminary decision in favor of Flamengo was made in the 2019 Brazilian championship and Willian Arão was also able to celebrate this title.
