Winfried Albiez
Winfried Albiez (born May 12, 1938 in Stuttgart , † October 27, 1984 in Lindau (Bodensee) ) was a German organ builder .
Live and act
Winfried Albiez came from a traditional family of organ builders . He became a student of the Walcker organ building company ; He also worked for the Rieger company (Schwarzach / Vorarlberg) and the Dutch organ building company Verschueren in Heythuysen (Limburg province). After his master craftsman examination in 1969, he started his own business in Lindau. Within 15 years, the workshop with around 18 employees achieved a qualified position in German organ building in the 1970s. More than 60 organs come from this workshop, mainly for Catholic churches in southern Germany. The peculiarities of his instruments include the coupling manual , the "breathing wind supply" and a sound and brochure design that aptly expressed the taste of the time. Albiez developed the concept of a model organ, which made it possible to offer instruments with 10 to 20 registers at a significantly reduced price through various combinations of pre-constructed modules . After the owner's suicide, the company faced liquidation and was taken over by Orgelbau Vleugels in 1985 .
