Dnepr Economic Region

The Dnepr Economic Region ( Ukrainian Придніпровський економічний район ) is an economic and planning region of Ukraine . It includes the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and the Zaporizhia Oblast . The region generates about 16% of the Ukrainian GDP . The region has a tricentric structure around the large agglomerations of Dnipro , Zaporizhia and Kryvyi Rih .

    The region is located in the south-east of Ukraine and includes the penultimate section of the Dnieper before it flows into the Black Sea and lies entirely on the Ukrainian part of the Eurasian steppe .

    The Dnieper economic region borders on the north-east economic regions in the north, central Ukraine in the north-west, Donetsk in the east and the Black Sea economic region in the south-east and the Sea of ​​Azov in the south.

    Transport and infrastructure

    Air traffic

    The region has 4 airports, Dnipropetrovsk Airport and Kryvyi Rih Airport in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and Zaporizhia and Berdyansk Airports in Zaporizhia Oblast. This brings the region to around 500,000 million air travelers a year.

    Train traffic

    The region has three ports, two inland ports in Dnipround Zaporizhia and a seaport in Berdyansk on the Azov Sea.
