The 2016/17 season of the Women's Elite Ice Hockey League was the second event as the highest British and English women's ice hockey league . The league is run by the English Ice Hockey Association , the English association under the umbrella of the British ice hockey association Ice Hockey UK .

Elite League

The Elite League was expanded to include one team to six with the rise of the Swindon Topcats , who won the 2015/16 Women's Premier Ice Hockey League .

mode

Initially, all teams played a simple round with a return leg. The four best reached the semifinals. In this final round only one game was played between the opponents.

The 2016/17 season of the Women's Premier Ice Hockey League was the second event as the second highest British and English women's ice hockey league . The league is run by the English Ice Hockey Association , the English association under the umbrella of the British ice hockey association Ice Hockey UK .

The preseason winners , the Swindon TopCats, had been promoted to the first-class Elite League , so only seven teams competed. From Division I , the B-team of the Kingston Diamonds rose as the winner of the league, the Whitley Squaws withdrew.

mode

After a main round with home and away games in the everyone-versus-everyone mode, playoffs were played in a KO mode in a final four tournament among the best four teams.

The Division I (the Women's National Ice Hockey League ) is the third stage since the preseason after the Elite League and the Premier League of English and British woman Hockey League. It is divided into a north and a south group. The number of participating teams continued to decrease. The Kingston Diamonds B-team had risen and the Invicta Dynamos had withdrawn.

Final Four

In the final tournament, the two best of the two groups played across the board for victory in Division 1. The winners of the northern group, the Billingham Lady Stars , did not take part in the playoffs, which resulted in the Coventry Phoenix moving up.
