Wonder Woman 1984 is an American superhero film set to be released in 2020. The main character is the comic figure Wonder Woman from DC Comics . The film is the sequel to Wonder Woman from 2017 and is slated to become part of the DC Extended Universe . After Justice League, it is the fourth theatrical adaptation with the Amazon princess Diana Prince, who is behind the identity of Wonder Woman, and is the second solo adaptation of this character for the cinema. Again directed by Patty Jenkins.

The film is scheduled to hit US cinemas on October 2, 2020.

On May 15, 2017, Zack Snyder announced that another solo film about Wonder Woman was planned. However, it was not yet known whether Patty Jenkins would direct again, as Warner Bros. had only signed her for one film. At the San Diego Comic-Con in late July 2017, it was officially announced that Warner Bros. was working on a sequel to Wonder Woman in which Gal Gadot would again play the leading role. Patty Jenkins takes on the direction again .

Filming

Filming began on June 13, 2018 and ended on December 22, 2018. Shooting took place in Georgetown (Washington, DC), at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, England, and in various locations in Columbia District and north of, among others Virginia, also shot at the Landmark Mall in Alexandria.

Other locations in the DC area included the Penn Quarter, McPherson Square, DAR Constitution Hall near the White House, the Museum of Natural History (Smithsonian), and the Lincoln Memorial.

Film music

The score for the film is composed by Hans Zimmer , who was already responsible for the score for the DC films Batman Begins , The Dark Knight , The Dark Knight Rises , Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice .

Possible continuation

In January 2019, Patty Jenkins revealed that the plot for a third Wonder Woman film is currently being developed. Jenkins stated that the story arc for the heroine was planned across three films and the next episode would take place in the present.
