Yasin Öztekin (born March 19, 1987 in Dortmund ) is a German-Turkish football player who is active in various positions on the offensive.

childhood

Öztekin's grandfather came from the Central Anatolian province of Kırşehir as part of the recruitment agreement between the Federal Republic of Germany and Turkey as a guest worker and later brought his children to join him, including Öztekin's father, Alaaddin Öztekin.

Both parents were football enthusiasts and encouraged the young Öztekin very early on. At the age of 4-5, he began playing club football in the youth department of the Dortmund amateur club Alemannia Scharnhorst and was looked after by his father, who worked as a youth coach at this club and looked after Öztekin's team.

Career

society

Öztekin moved in 1996 from Dortmund's amateur club Alemannia Scharnhorst to BVB , where he went through all youth teams and joined the second team in the Regionalliga West from the 2006/07 season . After some promising performances in the 2008/09 season, Öztekin was also included in the professional squad. After a substitution in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup against Werder Bremen (1: 2), Öztekin made his Bundesliga debut on January 31, 2009 against Bayer 04 Leverkusen (1: 1).

On January 3, 2011 Öztekin left Borussia Dortmund and moved to the Turkish first division club Gençlerbirliği Ankara . There he immediately became a regular player.

On May 23, 2012 it was announced that Öztekin was moving to Trabzonspor for the 2012/13 season and signed a four-year contract.

His time at Trabzonspor was short-lived, he moved to the newly promoted Kayseri Erciyesspor for the 2013/14 season for a transfer fee of 417,000 euros . During the contract negotiations, Trabzonspor managed to collect 20% of the transfer fee in the event of Öztekin's resale. The main reason for this change was the fact that Erciyesspor had hired Fuat Çapa, the coach under whom Öztekin had made his breakthrough as a professional player at Gençlerbirliği. Moved to Erciyesspor, he was used by Çapa from the start of the season as a regular player. After his club had finished the first half of the season as bottom of the table, Çapa was replaced by coach Hikmet Karaman, who had lived in Germany for a long time . Like his predecessor, he relied on Öztekin. Karaman also gave him permission to hire a former junior coach from the time of Borussia Dortmund in addition to team training. Under these circumstances, Öztekin played a successful second half and was largely responsible for the fact that his club secured relegation several weeks before the end of the season. He subsequently became one of the most sought-after players in the 2014 summer transfer period.

After long transfer negotiations, Galatasaray Istanbul signed him in the summer of 2014 for a transfer fee of € 2.5 million. Öztekin signed a four-year contract with the Istanbul team and will receive a fixed salary of € 1 million, which will increase by € 50,000 every year, and an additional € 10,000 per competitive game. In the Champions League , Öztekin met his youth club Borussia Dortmund for the first time on October 22, 2014 when he was substituted on in the 62nd minute. In his first season he was also a double winner ( championship , cup ) with the yellow-reds.

In the 2015 Turkish Football Supercup encounter , Öztekin scored the goal for his team's 1-0 victory and thus contributed significantly to winning this trophy. After the end of the game, he was named player of the game by the Turkish Sports Journalists' Association (TSYD) .

In January 2020 he switched to Turkish championship aspirants and championship leaders Sivasspor and signed a one and a half year contract with the Central Anatolians .

National team

After being able to convince at Galatasaray for a long time, Öztekin was nominated for the first time in his career in the squad for the Turkish national team in May 2015 as part of a qualifying match for the 2016 European Championship and a test match that took place a few days before .
