Yuan Qiqi ( Chinese  袁琦琦 * October 26, 1995 in Zhangjiagang ) is a Chinese sprinter .

Athletic career

Yuan Qiqi gained her first international experience in 2013 at the East Asian Games in Tianjin , where she won the silver relay over 200 meters and gold in the Chinese 4 x 100 meter relay. In the following year, she finished fifth in the B-final at the 2014 IAAF World Relays in the Bahamas . At the Junior Asian Championships in Taipei she won the silver medal over 100 meters behind her compatriot Liang Xiaojing in 11.64 s and was eliminated over 200 meters with 25.09 s in the first round. She also won the relay with 45.34 seconds. She then took part for the first time in the Asian Games in Incheon , South Korea , and was there in 11.68 s sixth in the 100-meter run. The following year, she finished fourth at the World Relays with the 4 x 200 meter relay and retired from the 4 x 100 meter relay in the first round. At the beginning of June she took part in the Asian Championships in her home town of Wuhan for the first time and reached the semi-finals there over 100 meters. With the Chinese relay she secured the gold medal ahead of Japan and Thailand in a new championship record time of 43.10 s.

In 2016, at the Asian Indoor Championships in Doha , she won the silver medal in the 60-meter run in 7.33 s behind the Kazakh Viktorija Sjabkina and also qualified for the World Indoor Championships in Portland , where she was eliminated in the first round with 7.48 s. During the outdoor season she qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she was eliminated in the first round in the individual competition over 100 meters with 11.56 s . Even with the Chinese relay, she did not reach the final with 42.70 seconds as ninth in the qualification . At the IAAF World Relays 2017 , she won the bronze medal behind Germany and Jamaica with the 4 x 100 meter relay and was eighth with the 4 x 200 meter relay. In 2018, she won the silver medal behind the team from Bahrain at the Asian Games in Jakarta with the relay in 42.84 seconds. Then she was with the relay at the Continental Cup in Ostrava third.

In 2017, Yuan became the Chinese 100-meter champion . She graduated from Shanghai University .
