The preparatory work that began in 1998 for his staging of Goethe's Faust I and II inspired him to write. From 2003 he worked on his first novel Platzek's Skinning , which was published by Conte Verlag in 2005 and presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair .

In the same year Jansen co-founded the “Ensemble Proszenium Hamburg”, with which he implemented directing projects.

Yves Jansen lives with his Bolivian partner Lenny R. Pozo Encinas in Hamburg ; the couple has a son (* 2005).
