The ZIL-133 ( Russian ЗИЛ-133 ) is a truck produced from 1966 by the Soviet / Russian vehicle manufacturer Zavod imeni Lichatschowa . It is the civil three-axle version of the type ZIL-130 , which was built there from 1962. It was produced until the late 1990s, with various changes.

Technical specifications

The basic model ZIL-133 as well as the ZIL-133G1 were equipped with the V8 gasoline engine of the ZIL-130 , the output of which, however, was increased to 180 PS (132 kW). The ZIL-133GYes, on the other hand, was delivered with a V8 diesel engine manufactured by KamAZ. With a displacement of 10.86 l, it developed 210 hp (154 kW). The ZIL-133G40 in turn was equipped with a V8 diesel engine ZIL 645 from our own production. With a displacement of 8.7 l, it develops 185 hp (136 kW).

Over the years the permissible total weight as well as the payload has increased. While the basic model from 1966 still had a payload of around eight tonnes, the ZIL-133GJa could already carry ten tonnes. The ZIL-133G40 from the 1990s has a total mass of 19.2 tons, another two tons.

All models have the 6 × 4 drive formula. They are therefore fundamentally different from the all-wheel drive (6 × 6) ZIL-131 , which was also developed from the ZIL-130.

Model variants

The latest variant ZIL-133G40 in Moscow
  • ZIL-133 (base model), produced unchanged between 1966 and 1975
  • ZIL-133G1 ( Russian ЗИЛ-133Г1 ), built 1975–1978, extended by approx. One meter
  • ZIL-133GYes ( Russian ЗИЛ-133ГЯ ), 1979–1992 built version with KamAZ 740.10 diesel engine and 210 PS (154 kW)
  • ZIL-133G40 ( Russian ЗИЛ-133Г40 ), 1992–1999, completely redesigned exterior

There are different construction variants of all models. Flatbed versions and tractor units (also known as ZIL-133W and ZIL-133WA) were particularly widespread. However, especially before 1992, special agricultural bodies were also supplied. ZIL-133 were also converted into fire fighting vehicles.

Others

In contrast to the ZIL-130 with almost 3.5 million vehicles built, the ZIL-133 was only produced in small numbers. KamAZ produced trucks of a similar size from the start with more economical diesel engines that sold significantly better.

In order to find space for the larger engines, the hood of the ZIL-133GYes was extended, which is how the vehicles can be distinguished from the previous versions.
