At the 2007 World Championships , she won two bronze medals over 1000 and 3000 meters, she also won silver in the relay and was a good fourth in the all-round competition.

The 2007/08 season was the most successful so far for Zhou, she triumphed twice in individual World Cups and celebrated a total of four podium finishes there, and she also came third in the 1500 m discipline world cup. With the relay, in which she was now regularly used, she won a total of five times and clearly won the overall World Cup. Zhou was also successful at the 2008 World Championships , winning the gold medal in the 3000 m race and finishing second overall behind her compatriot Wang Meng , who had won all races except for the longest distance. Otherwise, she won one silver and two bronze medals at that world championship, only missing the podium at the 500 m distance. She won the gold medal at the 2008 Short Track Team World Championships in Harbin .

Zhou also got off to a very good start in the 2008/09 World Cup , winning four times in the first six races, twice over 1500 m each and with the relay. She also finished second in the two other competitions over 1000 m and 1500 m respectively. At the World Cup station in her home country, Zhou failed to win an individual World Cup for the first time during the season, but triumphed with the relay. She came second over 1000 m and 1500 m. At the World Cup in Nagano she also won with the relay and at the World Cup in Sofia she reached third place over 1500 m. In March at the Short Track World Championships in Vienna in 2009 she won bronze in the all - around , silver in the 1500 m and gold in each of the 3000 m and with the relay. She finished the season in fifth place in the overall world cup over 1000 m and first place in the overall world cup over 1500 m. At the beginning of the following season she won the 1500 m in Beijing and came third in the 1500 m in Seoul . In the further course of the season she won twice over 1500 m and twice with the relay. At her first Olympic participation in Vancouver in 2010 , she won the gold medal with the relay and over 1500 m. In the 2010/11 season , Zhou reached 11 podium finishes in the World Cup. She won five wins, three of them with the relay, one over 1000 m and one over 1500 m.
