"Gimme More"
Song

"Gimme More" is the first single from Britney Spears's fifth studio album, Blackout. Written by James Washington, Keri Hilson, Marcella Araica and Danja and produced by Danja,[2][3], the track is Spears' most successful single in the U.S. since "...Baby One More Time", having reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100, and is Spears' fifth top ten hit in her native country.[4] The song was released to airwaves in the United States on August 30,[5] (See 2007 in music), and as a limited digital single in North America and Australia on September 25, 2007. It will be released as a CD single on October 6 in Australia and October 29, 2007 in Europe.

Single release

On August 30 2007, "Gimme More" premiered on New York City radio station Z100's web site,[5][6] followed by premieres in other major markets such as KIIS-FM in Los Angeles, 97.1 ZHT in Salt Lake City and Hot 99.5 in Washington, D.C.[7] The single was officially released for radio airplay in the U.K on 28 September, 2007.

The single was digitally released in the iTunes Store on September 25, 2007 and reached #1 on the United States iTunes chart two days later where it remains.

Critical reception

"Gimme More" was generally well-received by music critics. Blender Magazine gave the song four out of five stars.[8]

Chuck Taylor, Billboard writer and editor, had this to say of the song:

The uptempo dance track is a cutesy if redundant jam in which the title is repeated no fewer than three dozen times in four minutes. Instantly most added at top 40, Spears is destined for a lofty chart debut.[9]

Music video

The video was shot in a warehouse in downtown Los Angeles on July 19 and August 7 2007. [10]

The official music video is set to premiere on MTV's Total Request Live on October 8, 2007.[11]

AOL Music is reporting that the video to premiere on MTV Total Request Live is different to the downloadable version on iTunes.
