Eurochart Hot 100 Singles
The European album and singles charts ( European Top 100 Albums / European Hot 100 Singles ) were from March 1984 to December 2010 an evaluation of a few selected European music charts . They were determined weekly by the European magazine Music & Media and the US magazine Billboard . These charts were based on the national album and single charts of the following 15 European countries: Belgium (Flanders) , Belgium (Wallonia) , Denmark , Germany , France , Finland , Ireland , Italy , the Netherlands , Norway , Austria , Spain , Sweden , Switzerland , Hungary and the United Kingdom . The individual placements were weighted on the basis of the size of the various music markets. The hit parade did not provide any information about the actual sales figures for individual songs, as no exact sales figures were published in some countries.
history
The first European charts began with the so-called Europarade , which was launched by the Dutch TV station Televisie en Radio Omroep Stichting (TROS for short) in 1976. The Europarade was only determined from the charts of the six European countries Germany , France , United Kingdom , Spain , Belgium and the Netherlands . In 1979 Denmark and Italy were added, in 1980 Switzerland and Austria . In March 1984 Music & Media from Amsterdam founded their own Eurochart list called The Eurochart Hot 100 , which was also presented on Dutch television from 1986. With increasing popularity, the chart lists were published in January 1986 in the US magazine Billboard .
