Gemini is an astrological sign, which originated from the constellation Gemini, and is the third sign of the zodiac. Gemini is classed as a Positive or masculine, extravert sign; its element is Air and its Quality is Mutable.[2] Traditionally in astrology Gemini is ruled by the planet [Mercury]. The sign opposite to Gemini is Sagittarius. Under the tropical zodiac, Gemini is occupied by the Sun from May 23 to June 23, and under the sidereal zodiac, it is currently from June 15 to July 15. The Taurus/Gemini Cusp dates is between May 19 to May 23. So people who're thought to pure Taureans, or Geminis, they're not. Also Gemini/Cancer Cusp dates June 19 to June 23. They're thought to be pure Gemini, or Cancerians, they're not. See Cusp (astrology).

In astrology the astrological signs represent twelve equal segments or divisions of the zodiac. According to astrological beliefs, celestial phenomena reflect or govern human activity on the principle of "as above, so below", so that the twelve signs at the same time are held to represent twelve basic personality types or characteristic modes of expression.[3] The scientific community generally considers astrology as a pseudoscience or superstition.[4][5], belief in astrology remains widespread.[6][7][8][9]

Mythology

Gemini is associated with the Greek myth of Castor (or Kastor) and Pollux and with the Greco-Roman god Hermes/Mercury and sometimes also the gods Loki, Asklepios/Aesculapius, and Veles and the goddesses Eris/Discordia, Hebe, and Ate. Being twins, Gemini can also sometimes be associated with the Greek twins Apollo and Artemis.

The astrological symbol for Gemini is the Roman numeral for two, to represent the twins and duality.
